Avery Island celebrates 150 years of Tabasco

One of the world’s most famous condiments, Tabasco, celebrates its 150th birthday this year. Edmund McIlhenny created the famous pepper sauce in 1868 on Avery Island, Louisiana. The US company still has its headquarters there and it is still run by McIlhenny’s descendants. Whether or not you’re one of those pepper fiends who shakes Tabasco on everything from eggs to burgers, Avery Island is a fun destination with a neat history. READ MORE....

Brazil midfielder Fred is expected to be confirmed as a Manchester United player later this week, Sky Sports News understands. The club have been waiting on a work permit for the Shakhtar Donetsk star but that is expected to go through imminently. Labor fumes over PM’s aged care comments

Labor denies it is taking comments by Malcolm Turnbull about aged-care workers out of context, fuming over the remarks and calling for an apology. The opposition took umbrage when Mr Turnbull on Tuesday suggested aged-care workers could always aspire to “a better job” during income tax cut debate. “We were there. A man has been remanded in custody and charged with drug trafficking after police raided his Beechboro address on Thursday June 14 as part of an ongoing investigation. World Cup 2018: Mexico fans trigger earthquake detectors celebrating German win

Thousands of exuberant Mexican soccer fans took to the streets Sunday to cheer their national team’s long-shot win against Germany in Mexico’s first match of the 2018 World Cup soccer tournament. The 1-0 stunner, with Hirving Lozano scoring the winning goal, has given Mexicans hope that their team might win the tournament for the first time ever. Mexico has competed in the FIFA World Cup since the sporting event kicked off in 1930. The highest it has ever advanced is to the quarter-finals, placing sixth in both 1986 and 1970. WATC Derby placegetter Media Baron and Arcadia Prince will both miss Saturday’s Belmont Guineas (1600m). Media Baron, who loomed as one of the major Guineas hopes after running a close second to Roganella at Belmont Park last Saturday week, has a sore foot. Man killed after rolling car in rural WA

A man has died when the car he was driving hit trees and rolled in rural Western Australia. The 30-year-old was travelling along the Cunderdin-Minnivale Road in Watercarrin sometime after midnight on Sunday when his car left the road and crashed, and police say he died at the scene a short time later. Christian Horner is optimistic Max Verstappen’s form and fortune are changing after he returned to the podium at the Canadian GP – a race weekend the Dutchman attended without his father or family members for the first time. Verstappen’s sequence of accidents and incidents in the opening six races of the season had put the 20-year-old under renewed spotlight on media day in Montreal, but he went on deliver a measured performance over the weekend to prove the faster Red Bull driver in qualifying and the race and finished third on Sunday. The former Latics striker, who made 88 appearances and scored 35 goals for the club between 1987 and 1990, replaces Richie Wellens, who was sacked after the club were relegated. The United States, Canada and Mexico will host the 2026 World Cup after beating bid rival Morocco, FIFA has announced. The North America bid received 134 of the 203 votes, while Morocco polled 65 in the vote of the FIFA Congress in Moscow which saw one member vote for “neither bid.” The 2026 World Cup will be the first expanded tournament featuring 48 teams, up from the current 32-team competition. Premier League clubs agree new way of sharing international broadcast revenue | Football News

The clubs will continue to share current levels of international revenue equally, but any increase from 2019-20 will be distributed based on where each team finishes in the top flight. However, total broadcast revenues will be capped at 1.8 times the amount earned by the bottom team – a rise on last season, which was 1.6 times. Additional income will be shared so that the 1.8 cap is maintained.
